Philosophy

Narrator:
Throughout my semesters at NAU and writing my teaching philosophy, I realized including technology was nowhere in my teaching philosophy. This class has opened my eyes to see how beneficial including technology in the classroom. I’ve noticed students during my practicum that students do better when there is technology to engage them in the lesson. My philosophies main focus has been to build strong relationships with every student that walks into my classroom and acknowledge that every student has different needs and has developed different ways to learn. Students can learn their best when they feel safe and are welcomed in the classroom. I believe my classroom should be a "community" and build a relationship with not only me as their teacher but with peers as well. I want the students to be curious about their learning but feel comfortable enough in their little community to speak their voice and to find their identity. I want to be a positive change for my students. I want them to know I care about them both as my student and as a whole person. I want to be a positive influence. I want them to feel like they can be their true selves and have fun learning in the process. During this class, we learned 7 ISTE standards for teachers let's talk about those standards now.

Narrator:
The learner. technology is always evolving we have to remember we are not only educators, we have to be learners too.  We need to set goals for ourselves to explore new fun, and engaging ways to integrate technology to improve student learning. We need to seek out others educators and participate in workshops, and seminars to stay up to date on current technology.

Narrator: Citizen. Teach students the expectations when participating in the digital world is very important. Teach students to always be safe and responsible when using technology. the best way is to  model for your students and give clear examples of how to stay safe. An example, when building relationships with the digital community, remember never give out too much personal information.

Collaboration

Narrator: Collaborator  It encourages teachers to communicate with each other to come up with better ideas to engage students while using technology. During this class, we were able to discuss our lesson plans we created and got feedback, and share ideas with our peers. In this class and during my practicum, I have realized how important it is to collaborate with others, especially when integrating technology into your lessons.

TITLE: Designer

Designer

Narrator: Design. You want to make your lesson fun and exciting while also meeting the needs of your students. When designing lessons using technology, there are many different ways to adapt and personalize lessons.  You can customize the slides in your presentations. In including visuals with different color effects in your slides, and you can include hands-on activities. These are ways we can accommodate for the different learners in your class and make sure you meet their needs. Just remember to be the real you when you design.

TITLE: Facilitator

Facilitator

Narrator: Facilitator.  As a facilitator, educators Create learning opportunities that challenge students to use their critical thinking skills. It is where students take ownership of their learning goals and have clear expectations, and are challenged in their learning but can also be able to safely work independently in the classroom.

TITLE: Analyst

Analyst
Narrator: Analyst. Developing different ways to assess student learning using technology doesn’t have to be complicated, and it can still be creative. You can create formative and summative assessments that meet the student's needs. You can reflect on their learning using technology in your classroom.  You can collect assessment data and check their progress. You can also provide instant feedback and communicate with students when they may need more assistance and also be able to give data to parents and other colleagues who may need it as well.

That is all the information I have on each standard.

  1. Jasmine,

I really enjoyed going over your presentation, I liked how clean your slides were and how straight to the point you were on each of the standards. I get a great understanding of how you will implement the ISTE standards in your future classroom.
